Every encryption key is generated directly on your device using a cryptographically secure random number generator. The key never leaves your phone — not during creation, not during use, not ever. Our servers never see, store, or have access to your key.

Can anyone read my encrypted messages?

Only the person who possesses your encryption key can decrypt and read the message. No one else — not the developers, not the server administrators, not government agencies — can read your encrypted messages under any circumstances. This is mathematically guaranteed by AES-256-GCM encryption.

What happens if my account is compromised?

Even if someone gains access to your account, they cannot read your encrypted messages without the key stored on your device. The encryption key exists only on your phone — it is never transmitted to the server, so compromising the account alone is not enough to access the content of your conversations.

What if I lose my encryption key?

This is important: if you lose your encryption key, no one in the world — including us — can recover or decrypt your messages. This is the price of true security. We strongly recommend backing up your keys securely.

How should I share my key with someone?

For maximum security, we recommend sharing keys only through secure offline channels: in person, via a USB drive, QR code scan in a face-to-face meeting, or through another trusted end-to-end encrypted service. Never send your key over unencrypted email or SMS.

Can I have a separate key for each conversation?

Yes! You can create a unique encryption key for every chat. This means each conversation partner has their own separate key, adding an additional layer of compartmentalized security. If one key is ever compromised, all other conversations remain protected.

Why should I back up my keys?

Since we cannot recover your keys, losing them means permanent loss of access to your encrypted message history. We recommend exporting and storing your keys in a safe place — an encrypted USB drive, a hardware security key, or a printed QR code kept in a secure location.
